Let's face it :: We are blessed! If you are reading this, chances are that you own a computer and have access to the internet. This also implies that you have a roof over your head and probably enough food to sustain your family (if not, then you'd probably better sell your computer!)
Lately I have been thinking about how I would love to give back to others who need a boost. Unsure of where to start, I happened to be listening to NPR one day and heard a report about an organization called KIVA and today I decided to check it out.
Kiva's mission is to let you make small loans (usually starting at $25) to the working poor for the sake of alleviating poverty in the developing world. It is also the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs.
I have to say I am very impressed with this concept. I am not a millionaire, but I know that I spend at least $25 here and there on things that I don't even need. It may be a small amount of money to me, but to other people around the world it could provide them with just enough of a boost to get ahead.
I encourage you to check it out and maybe you can sign up and become a lender too!
